FOAHP 2 - rubber tree

Yes, I’m still at the Fruit Orchard Agriculture Heritage Park aka FOAHP @ Putrajaya.

The last stop before we end this tiring walk under the extreme heat LOL – the rubber tree area. Got to see the process from tapping the rubber tree to making them into sheets of rubber before sending them off to the factory to be made into useful stuffs blah blah blah.

The ‘fresh’ rubber, just got it from the tree :)

After adding formic acid, we get ‘solid’ rubber. Using bare hands, press the rubber to make it thinner.

Put the rubber in between the rollers to squeeze out the excess water.

After that, soak them in water to wash away the formic acid on the  surface.

The smoke house – to dry up the rubber sheets before they are sent to the factories.

Different colours of the sheets indicate the number of days being in the smoke house.

That’s all for FOAHP, but I’m not done with the outing yet. Next up, mammal museum, @ Putrajaya too.
